Basement Concrete Floor Ground Clean Of Black Cutback Tile Adhesive
White Cement Overlay Of Basement Concrete Floor Just After Applying Acid Stain

This is project is an "English Red" acid-stained cement overlay of a finished basement concrete floor.  Thin cement overlays provide a clean canvas for old concrete and optimize the antiqued, "marbled" look of acid stain.  The photo above left shows the existing concrete floor after removing black cutback tile adhesive by diamond cup grinding.

Above right you can see the cement overlay immediately after applying the acid stain.

The last two photos above show the finished floor.  Notice how the color is completely different 12 hours later once the chemical reaction of the acid stain with the cement is complete.  We sealed the overlay with two coats of a clear gloss, solvent-based acrylic lacquer for color enhancement and to protect the floor.
