Elevated Backyard Decorative Concrete Terrace With Peeling Clear Sealer
Elevated Backyard Decorative Concrete Terrace With Test Samples Of Chemical Stripper To Remove Sealer

This project involves the restoration of a two-year-old elevated, backyard concrete terrace with integral color that was sealed improperly.  We began by testing the effectiveness of several chemical strippers (photo above right) in removing the failed sealer.

After successfully stripping the sealer and cleaning the concrete (above left), we also removed the joint sealant from the saw-cuts and began to re-seal the terrace with a high quality, solvent-based clear acrylic sealer (above right).

We then re-filled the saw-cuts with a custom-colored, high quality, polyurea joint sealant (above left) and shaved off the overfill with a 4" razor edge floor scraper.  See the finished patio (above right and below).

We also stripped and re-sealed the steps leading from the terrace to the backyard (below), including glass bead for slip resistance.
